Part-Time Police Chief
The Village of Fremont is accepting applications for the position of Part-Time Police Chief. The Village of Fremont (population 689) is a small, part-time law enforcement agency.
Under the direction of the and the Village Board of Trustees, the Police Chief is responsible for the protection of lives and property in the Village of Fremont through supervision of all police department functions and personnel.
The responsibilities of the Police Chief include:
-Being responsible for the supervision of all police and law enforcement services and activities performed by the Police Department in accordance with state laws and ordinances and policies established by the Village Board.
-Possess the powers, enjoy the privileges and be subject to the liabilities conferred and imposed by law upon marshals and constables.
-Obey all lawful orders of the Village President and Village Board.
-Cause the public peace to be preserved and see that all laws and ordinances of the Village and the state are enforced and, whenever any violation thereof shall come to their knowledge, shall cause the requisite complaint to be made and see that the evidence is procured for the successful prosecution of the offender.
-Exercise supervisory control over all personnel of the department
-Be solely responsible for the care and condition of the equipment used by the Department
-Keep an accurate and complete record of all complaints, arrests, traffic violations, convictions and dispositions of the Department
-Submit a monthly report to the Village Board of activities and transactions of the Department during the preceding month
Hours Approximately 5-8 hours per week
Education Requirement
Must have High School Diploma/GED
Must meet all minimum WI Law Enforcement training & standards
Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice of related field preferred. Experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Minimum Qualifications
Valid Driver’s License
No Felony Convictions
U.S. Citizen
Compensation: Negotiable.
Uniform and supplies will be provided by the Village of Fremont.
